Wise Advice for a Happier Monday Morning — Reader Intelligence Report

Mondays mornings are definitely not my strong point, especially since I've been working from home so much and the barrier between bed and office is basically nil. (I did shower and change out of my pajamas today, but only because I have a video call and I'd like for my hair to be going in the same direction, roughly).

Throw in a holiday weekend and this week was a real challenge. Don't get me wrong, I love holiday weekends, but they make that first morning of the week even harder, it seems to me. Tuesday morning is really a fake Monday morning in disguise, but at the same time, it's also a Tuesday morning — in other words, double trouble.

That's why I asked for your help in turning my Monday mornings around. I asked how you start your week off right and this is your best advice.

Packing school lunch is a chore that I adore. Still, with two kids and 10 lunches each week, there's always room for improvement. That's why, this week, I asked our readers for their tips and tricks for packing lunches — and they had plenty to say.

What do you reach for when you're hungry at midnight? Do you go for convenience or do you cook up something a little more elaborate to enjoy? Earlier this week we asked our readers to tell us their favorite midnight snacks, and we received some great responses to help fuel your own snack inspiration.

Can you guess our readers' favorite things to eat after midnight? Honestly, I wasn't too surprised.

What’s Your Favorite Midnight Snack? — Reader Intelligence Request

It's midnight, and you're still awake for whatever reason. Maybe you just can't sleep, maybe you can't put a certain book down, or maybe you're just a night owl. Your stomach starts to grumble a little bit and you look towards the fridge and the pantry. What are you going to do about it?

Midnight snacks are secret pleasures in and of themselves. It's not a part of that whole "three square meals a day" mentality, and it's probably not something your nutritionist would say is a good idea. It's often a snack that you enjoy all by yourself — unless you're drunk, and then the collective answer is always pizza.

10 Ways Our Readers Treat Themselves — Reader Intelligence Report

It's the little things in life that can have the biggest impact. It might be something material (a special tea pot or a scented candle that makes your home smell like the beach), or something edible (a really good glass of wine at the end of the day, perhaps, or that dark chocolate bar that cost $12 but is totally worth every penny). It might also be something less tangible, like saying no to social invitations and indulging in a Gilmore Girls marathon.

This week, we asked our readers to share how they treat themselves and we're sharing the best ideas with you here (and taking notes for our own "me" moments).

Here are 10 ways our readers treat themselves.

10 Not-So-Basic Kitchen Tools Our Readers Pack for Vacation — Reader Intelligence Report

When you go on vacation, what are the tools and other kitchen essentials that come with you, and what gets left behind? This is the question we posed to our readers earlier this week and I have to confess I was surprised — and thrilled! — to discover our readers are just as guilty of packing everything but the kitchen sink as I am.

Kevin from Milwaukee keeps a set of back-up pots and pans, plus "knives, spatulas, bowls, tongs, and lighters" at the ready! Others were slightly more discerning, but as a rule, our readers like to make sure their vacation rental kitchen is well-stocked with their stuff.

Here's what our readers pack so they can get into their cooking groove wherever they are.
